Michael Brian McCord

I have been at the forefront of Alternative Dispute Resolution; as a mediator, arbitrator, instructor of ADR seminars and courses, and as a designer of new ADR programs. As a lawyer, I have worked as a solo practitioner and in government as an in-house counsel and as a magistrate. I have served as board president for non-profit agencies and involved with staff and board development, fund-raising, strategic planning and programming.

I was new to Shaker Schools when I entered Byron in 9th grade.
I was able to be a jock, be a singer, and take all kind of classes.

My proudest achievement was the intramural basketball team, I started
with Winston Ritchie and Mike Polster. We called ourselves the shorties,
which we were as sophomores. Then as Seniors we heavily recruited and gained some height and became one of the best teams along with the Easter Bunnies and a mostly Jewish Team (Ira Shapiro, Neil Slavin, and others).
Our team consisted of myself (Irish Catholic), Ron Wyatt (Morman), Steve Saks, Jeff Shore, Mike Polster, andHal Krent (Jewish), Chris Moorez (HIspanic), and Winston Ritchie (African American).

I believe the Shorties, were the most diverse group at Shaker High.
